PRESENTATION OF HEALTH DATA BASES

Health expenditures, medical demography, medical activities, mortality rates... Health Data Bases are a direct and immediate computerised access to all Health Economics data.

They gather various statistical series describing the functioning of the French or of the OECD Member countries health systems.

Health Data Bases was produced in partnership with the Division of Statistics, Studies and Information Systems of the French Ministry of Health , the Mutualité Française , the RSI and the MSA , and OECD for OECD Health Data.

The Health Data Bases softwares are user-friendly, simple and flexible, give immediate access to information, and offer several possibilities to consult data : tables, charts, graphs, maps. Data can also be exported to other software programmes.

The Health Data Bases are designed for all those interested in the functioning of health systems in France and in the world, and in their evolution since the data available cover long time periods (1950/60-2006).

Criteria for the choice of the variables

The choice of the variables follows several criteria : pertinence for the analysis of health systems, coherence of the series on a long time period.

Sources

The databases regroup each country's official health statistics.

Education

In 2002 Health Data Bases have been "Recognised as having educational value" (R.I.P.) by the Ministry of National Education .

Updates

The bases are updated every year and enriched by the last available statistics and by new variables.

New

Since 2007, the CD-Rom version is downloadable via Internet (free access for Health Data Bases France, Régions&départements, Québec, with payment for OECD Health Data).
