CHART OF THE MONTH

Use of psychotropic drugs among employees whose company conducted a mass layoff and those whose company did not

May 2019

Scope: Private sector employees with an open-ended contract, aged between 20 and 65 in 2012

Source: The 2012 French Health, Health Care and Insurance Survey (ESPS)

Reading: Variations in psychotropic drug use are significantly higher for employees who reported that their company proceeded to a mass layoff compared with those whose company did not. Moreover, psychotropic drug use among employees who reported a mass layoff is particularly high in 2012-13, after the layoff period. Taken from the IRDES Working paper n°78 "The Effects of Mass Layoffs on Mental Health" Lengagne P., Le Clainche C. (2019).
