* Residential care facilities (maisons d'accueil spécialisées, MAS) are funded by the French National Health Insurance. They provide inpatient or daytime services for people suffering from a severe handicap and whose condition requires an ongoing treatment, a medical surveillance and the assistance of a person for acts of daily living.
