Comparison of the evolution of inpatient hospitalization and of its alternatives (France, 2000-2008)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 







The number of beds in short-stay hospital units decreased between 2000 and 2008 (from 240,772 to 218,116, i.e. a 9% decrease). During the same period, the number of short-stay places in day-case hospital services increased more rapidly (from 15,623 to 22,905, i.e. a 46% increase), and even more so for places in home hospitalization (from 3,913 to 8,971, i.e a 129% increase).
