The numbers of declared diseases (by individuals suffering from at least one chronic condition) and of prescribed medications increase jointly and sharply from age 40, and are correlated. Resulting from a specific exploitation of the 2008 ESPS survey data, this graph was realized for Questions d'économie de la santé (Issues in Health Economics) n° 156 “Drug-prescription Management in Patients with Multiple Chronic Conditions”.
